Boston Hosts Figure Skating Championship 2016
Figure skating is a sport which is undoubtedly a delight to watch. This sport, which does not usually make headlines but keeps on being ignored, still copes up with other sports by keeping it alive in the form of various championships.
In 2016, the eyes of the world were set at Boston as 200 of its greatest figure skaters came forward to challenge one another and to compete for the prized title of world champion. The ISU World Figure Skating Championships® are one of the world's most important annual skating competitions. Although figure skating is both, a major sport and great entertainment, it is unfortunately not given much coverage. Unlike cricket, football and hockey championships, the figure skating sport is neglected.
This is, in its 130 years old history, figure skating came to Boston and a total of 108,264 people attended it. It was the record breaking attendance, of participants and observers that gained attention of media and people around the world.
The Skating Club of Boston's Organizing Committee was proud to have locally hosted the World Figure Skating Championships as they weren’t given the chance before. The committee showed great gratitude towards all the skaters, federations, staff, volunteers and organizations involved. The championship was hosted at TD Gardens which themselves are next to heaven on earth. The figure skating club of Boston believed that thanking their fans for supporting figure skating with their generous attendance numbers was the most important thing to do. Every group, no matter how small, plays an instrumental role in making an event a success.

Chinese Navy Playing Footsie With the Japs
As if flirting with states fighting for territory in the South China Sea was not enough, China has chosen to irk another American ally in the shape of Japan by playing around with their naval armada at the East China Sea. In the most recent activity, the Chinese navy held a huge live ammunition drill in the East China Sea, boasting hundreds of ships and submarines from all three fleets of the famous People’s Liberation Army.
The exercise saw the naval fleets try their hands on various offensive and defensive capabilities which the navy currently boasts and promises to challenge US hegemony over the international waters. Around 300 ships, dozens of fighter planes and troops were mobilized for this activity. According to The China Times, troops responsible for coastal defense radars, communications and electronic warfare defense also participated in this activity while sniggering at on looking Japanese security personnel who could only watch with envy while complaining to their superiors as to why they were not allowed to flex their muscles like their neighbors.
“The drill is aimed at honing the assault intensity, precision, stability and speed of troops amid heavy electromagnetic influences,” said a navy statement released Monday. “An information technology-based war at sea is sudden, cruel and short, which requires a fast transition to combat status, quick preparation and high assault efficiency.”
However, Japan did not take lightly to these activities and complained to Big Sam about these events who issued a statement akin to the one a father does when one sibling is dominating the other one. Nonetheless, Beijing has said that these drills are routine and were not intended to cause panic in Japan.
After rejecting a decision made by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague which called for China to stop its operations in the South China Sea, it is clear that Beijing doesn’t bother much about what it calls a waste paper.
China has already secured a place where more than $5 trillion in annual trade passes and has also warned US from intervening in the region.
And to make things a little bit more interesting than they already are, China has announced that it will be conducting routine naval exercises in the South China Sea from September with the Russians which must give Washington sweaty foreheads to say the least.
“This is a routine exercise between the two armed forces, aimed at strengthening the developing China-Russia strategic cooperative partnership,” China's defense ministry spokesman Yang Yujun told reporters. “The exercise is not directed against third parties.”
And in its latest annual defense report, Japan has called China’s increasingly assertive military maneuvers as dangerous while also calling North Korea’s nuclear and missile development an imminent threat to Tokyo.
With China going all out to reclaim lost territories and US not being able to do anything about it, it is clear to see that Japan will have to do something about it rather than depending upon a partner that is already embroiled in so many issues as it is.
Interesting times ahead indeed!

Toddler eats Too Faced Chocolate Make up Palette
18-year-old makeup devotee, Lauren Rincon caught her 1-year-old niece Kaitlyn eating her Too Faced Chocolate Bar eye shadow palette in her Southern California home. She took one glance at Kaitlyn's cute face, which was completely covered in pretty pastels and rich cocoa eye shadow shades, and immediately understood what must have happened.
The Chocolate Bar eye palette made by Too Faced is not onlypackaged in a tin that looks like a chocolate bar, but rather the cocoa powder-laced shadows inside smell like the real thing as well. Therefore one can imagine and understandhow a toddler might think the bronze and brown shades are bite-sized treats.
A tweet that has since gone viral with over 44,000 retweets was captioned: "My niece ate my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette because it smells like chocolate I don't know if I should cry or laugh.
The palette definitely looks and smells good, but it's undoubtedly not good enough to eat safely. Rincon assured her followers that she looked into the palette's ingredients to make sure it didn't contain anything that would be harmful to her health. Her tweet read: "Too Faced let me know that there [aren't] any harmful ingredients, but we'll definitely take her to the doctors if she shows any signs of sickness”.
By the end of the day, Rincon's niece was alright and Too Faced gifted her a new palette after hearing about the incident. Lesson learned: guard your chocolate-scented beauty products closely.

Pokémon Go makers Face Trespassing Lawsuit
A man from New Jersey has registered a federal lawsuit against the creators of the popular Pokemon Go video game for putting the virtual creatures on his property without his consent which “caused Pokemon Go players to interfere with [his] use and enjoyment of his property,” according to court documents.
Released on 6 July, the smartphone game has become a global phenomenon. The lawsuit has charged the defendants of having "shown a flagrant disregard for the foreseeable consequences of populating the real world with virtual Pokemon without seeking the permission of property owners."
The lawsuit states that “during the week of Pokemon Go’s release, strangers began lingering outside of his home with their phones in hand,” and “at least five individuals knocked on [his] door and asked for access to [his] backyard in order to ‘catch’ Pokemon that the game had placed at [his] residence ... without [his] permission.”
Marder is the only person named as a plaintiff, with the lawsuit stating that the number of people who may potentially be interested in suing “is uncertain and can only be ascertained through appropriate discovery.”
However, at least one person mentioned in the lawsuit as being possibly affected by the placement of the virtual creatures told ABC News that it really wasn’t a problem.
“It was barely a nuisance; it’s been a net positive, and we’ve managed to meet a bunch of our neighbors,” said Boon Sheridan, a user experience designer in Holyoke, Massachusetts, who lives in an old church where a Pokemon Gym was placed. “I asked to have it removed and Niantic removed it within 48 hours.”

Chris Brown Sued
It appears that things in Chris Brown’s life are persistently worsening with time. After a series of unpleasant headlines portraying the R&B singer as a volatile hothead, Brown is going to have yet another lawsuit on his hands.
Various reports have revealed that Chris Brown is being sued for the 1OAK Nightclub shooting that took place in West Hollywood two years ago. Brown’s various gang affiliations have also been called into question in this lawsuit set against him.
Ginja Elms, who filed the lawsuit against Brown, says that he was one of the victims who was shot in the 2014 club shooting. A pre-MTV Video Music Awards party was taking place at the club on the night of August 24, and Chris Brown was hosting it. Other celebrities who were present, included The Game, Russell Wilson, Young Jeezy, Lil’ Twist, and Tyson Beckford. The co-founder of Death Row Records, Suge Knight, was also there.
Exactly around 1:30 in the morning when the club started becoming really crowded, eyewitnesses claimed that two gunshots were fired a few minutes later. The eyewitnesses reportedly said, “People were screaming and yelling and most ran out immediately. The floor was covered with glass from everyone dropping their drinks.”
Apart from the obvious gunshot wound, he claims physical trauma and "disruption in his relationship with his wife." He's suing for damages in excess of $750k.
He also claims that 1 Oak had considerable information and knowledge of Brown’s apparent gang linkages, which he has often been accused of cultivating via social media posts featuring gang colors and signs.
